I think I like being the hockey photographer. We just did some senior photos for Jonathon and what I once thought of as a pretty offbeat location has become a home away from home for us. We did his photos at the Coal Street Ice Complex in Wilkes-Barre. Jonathon is a Junior Penguin and the third Junior Pen we have shot in the past couple of years. We absolutely love it. Shooting seniors in hockey gear just makes for great photos and I’m starting to get the hang of staying upright on the ice. I took a nasty spill last year on some fresh ice. It happened so fast! The only thing that really got bruised – other than the lens of my camera – was my ego. Happily the Zamboni was coming after our senior shoot this year. Thank goodness. The ice is much easier to manage when it’s a little scarred by skaters and not brought to a glossy finish.
Once again, we are really happy with how the photos turned out. You have to work very quickly when doing these photos. Ice time is at a premium. And thanks to Jonathon and his mom for inviting us to do these photos.
