I could totally get into farm life. If it were’t for all the hard work and being up before the sun, I’d totally be in, but it was nice for a day. This past weekend, we shot the beautiful wedding of Jessica and Mark at Spring Hills Farm in Dalton. What a setting. It’s a giant  piece of land with rolling hills and pines and everything you would imagine a photographer would love. The whole day had such a feel of community and friendship. I’m sure that had everything to do with how wonderful Jessica and Mark and their loved ones are, but the vibe from the farm certainly added to the whole thing. I’m getting sidetracked a little, from a photography standpoint the rustic feel of everything made the whole day special. So we wanted to share some of the sights we found around the property on a wedding day. We’ll get the the party pictures and portraits in another blog post soon but here are  some of the details we found.

Every time Bob and I talk to brides about shooting their wedding, we always make it a point to tell them that what they are getting is more than photos. They’re getting their story captured in images. It’s how we shoot and it’s how we design albums. And the stories are unbelievable. Some of the things that people have told us are really inspiring. There are stories about how they fell in love and there are inspiring stories about overcoming odds. We love to hear them and try to capture those emotions in the images we get. After all, being able to see a story unfold is so much more powerful than flipping through some photos. But what if you could tell the story yourself.

Enter Danielle and Keith. They were the guinea pigs in an idea that Bob and I have wanted to try. In addition to their engagement photos, they sat down with us and allowed us to do an engagement video that let’s them tell their story. They are so hopelessly in love.  We couldn’t have asked a better couple to be the first ones to venture into new territory. So sit back and enjoy their story.

So this one is a little unusual. Usually, we shoot one senior portrait at a time. Usually, we do it in one day. With Jen and Maura, I guess we broke away from the usual. A couple of months ago, we had them at the studio for some shots. Here’s the link to those photos. I love how they turned out. Now that the weather is nice, we took them outside for a few shots. They’re really good friends so they decided to have the photos done at the same time. We’d shoot a few shots of Maura and then Jen would step in for a few. I gotta tell you, I like it this way. It keeps everybody moving and the girls got to take frequent breaks. It’s not easy being models. Anyway, here are the shots. They were done at Chapman Lake. It makes for a pretty nice background. OK, that’s a huge understatement. It makes for a spectacular background. Here you go!

There  are a lot of emotional moments at weddings. It’s one of the things that makes them so great to shoot and one of the things I love about doing this. Few moments are as touching as the first dance. I should say dances. There’s the newly married couple, which is always awesome, but there are the other dances that provide great moments too. The father-daughter dance is one of my favorites. You can throw in the  occasional dance with a grandparent too. So instead of just showing you photos from the reception, we thought we’d narrow it down a little this week and just do a few first dance photos from Tara and Mike’s wedding at Genetti’s in Wilkes-Barre. We love how they turned out, and it was definitely one of the highlights of a great day with friends.

It’s nice to have plenty of time to spend with the bride and groom before the ceremony. It’s doesn’t always work out that way, but when it does it sets a great tone for the rest of the day. You get to hang out with family and friends, get comfortable and grab some photos while you’re at it. We did that with Tara and Mike before their wedding last weekend in Wilkes-Barre.  It was a great time. Yes the bride and groom were a little nervous, but hey that’s normal. I wonder about the couples who aren’t a little jittery. So a big thanks to them for inviting us into their home to let us get some “pre-game” photos. Your wedding was a great time. We’ll get to some photos from the ceremony and reception soon, but here’s what he grabbed before the vows and rings were exchanged.

Wedding season  is officially underway. At least for us it is, and it started Saturday night with Tara and Mike’s wedding in Wilkes-Barre. What a great time! We already knew a lot of their friends from doing Ryan and Sarah’s wedding a couple years ago. (Ryan and Mike are brothers). So it was a really comfortable day, catching up with friends and just enjoying the day. We could have done with a little less wind and some warmer temps for late May but what the heck. 😉

At least is was warmer than the engagement session we did a few months back, right Tara? So as we start to go through their wedding photos, we thought it would be nice for a quick look back at some of their engagements photos. We did some in the studio and, yes, we did some outside. I can still feel how cold it was. Thanks again, you guys, for inviting us to be your photographers at your wedding. It was a perfect night!

Also, a little sneak peek at the end!
