Two Sticks Studios – Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Poconos Wedding Photographers » Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Poconos Wedding Photography, Senior Photography and Portrait Photography

This week we had the pleasure of meeting a great couple and soon-to-be mom and dad, Julie and Matt. They drove up from Sunbury for a fun afternoon of photos in the park. Julie and Matt were very easy-going and up for anything we wanted to do. These always make for the best shoots and the most natural photos.

They plan to welcome little Bryce Corbin into the world in August. We are hoping for a mild summer for you, Julie.

Julie and Matt, we wish you the best of luck, and we hope to capture the memories of Bryce for years to come.

We’ve said it before, but we love taking photos for friends. It means a great deal to us to have one our photos hanging in their home. So we made a return trip to the Waverly Community House for the Stevens family. We were there a few weeks ago doing some kid portraits for different friends and enjoyed the spot so much we tried it again.

It also doesn’t hurt that the kids were within walking distance of the Comm. It makes any wardrobe changes really easy. And in this case the change was worth the wait. The kids came out wearing Phillies jerseys. If that wasn’t enough, they were all Chase Utley Phillies jerseys. What more can a diehard Phils fan ask for? Thanks to Jon and Sarah for letting us take photos of the kids. As usual, they were great and a blast to be around. We will absolutely do it again at some point.

Erin and Pat love the outdoors and picked a beautiful location in Bushkill Falls for their engagement shoot. We couldn’t have asked for a better day to trek around the “Niagara of Pennsylvania.” The sun stayed behind clouds, which provided great lighting, and the temperature stayed in the mid 70s. I could have done without stepping into the  water up to my shin halfway through the shoot, but you can’t win them all.

We can’t wait for their wedding in July at the Newberry Estates in Dallas. Erin told us about some of the details she planned and it sounds awesome.

It seems I find myself writing a lot about apps, but that’s not stopping me because this one’s worth a little love. It’s Instagram, and if you’re using Twitter, you have no doubt seen photos washed through this app. It’s a simple little app really. There’s nothing all that fancy about it, but if you like the retro look this one’s the ticket.

Not only that, but sharing on social networking sites is a piece of cake. Maybe it’s best feature, aside form the 11 different effects, is the real-time feed from all of your friends and people you follow on Twitter. It taps into the idea that not only do people like to create cool images with their phones but they really love showing them off. Here’s a couple I took tonight around the house when I was exploring Instagram. I’m thinking there is going to be a whole lot more photos headed to Twitter too. I love simple, easy-to-use apps and this one has it nailed. App-makers take a lesson. This is how you do it. You can follow us there @2sticks.

We just got our new sample album in the mail this week and WE LOVE IT!

We were pretty happy with our last album company, but are always trying to raise the bar for our clients. After seeing so many raves from some of the world’s top photographers, we had to try out newcomer Michael Norwood at Madera Books. He did not disappoint.

Michael is great to work with, and we look forward to many more albums to come. We can’t wait to do some day in the life kids and high school senior albums to go along with our wedding albums.

They are truly worthy of being family heirlooms.

To see the album pages click here.

I felt bad posting these pictures because they can not do the album justice, but here they are…

The book arrives in a beautiful box with a magnetic closure. Already impressed before I see the album.

We chose a premium leather cover from more than 30 cover options. It’s buttery soft…

Cover imprinting…

…and imprinting on spine!

Pages lay flat with a gutter so small, its almost not there!

My wife makes a good book model.

12″x12″ album = 2 foot wide photo spread… try that with your parents’ wedding album!

She’s pretty strong. These things are heavy!

On Saturday, I had the chance to shoot some photos for two of my closest friends Brian and Jane.  They wanted some shots of their kids – Anna and Brody  – at the Waverly Community House. It’s always great shooting for friends. It’s laid back and a chance to try some different stuff all while catching up on how everyone is doing. Not only that, but Jane is a bit of a photographer herself and brought all kinds of good ideas about where to shoot. She even brought props like butterflies and bubbles. Not to mention the kids were awesome. We were out for more than an hour in pretty hot conditions and they never missed a beat.

After it was all over, the kids and I got together for a quick meeting. We plotted the best way to convince Brain and Jane that some ice cream was in order. The kids were flawless in their execution.

Also, thanks to the Waverly Community House for everything they do for the community. It’s an unbelievable facility and a real asset to the neighborhood.
