The spring and summer wedding season is officially under way and what a way to kick it off. Tom and Stacey hit lead off this year and totally knocked it out of the park with a great wedding. They had a beautiful ceremony at St. Patrick’s in West Side. For anyone who has never been there it is spectacular. They fought through the crowds and some pretty hot weather for some great shots at Nay Aug Park and capped it off with a really fun reception at Colorusso’s in Moosic.  All in all, a great start. By the way, am I the only one who didn’t know you can have a wedding ceremony in the tree house at Nay Aug? I stumbled on that bit of news. I’ll save that story for another post.

Thanks Tom and Stacey for letting us be a part of your day. It was spectacular and you guys were wonderful.

Here are some ceremony pics to get you started.

What’s not to love about summer? It’s marriage season, golf season, shorts season, outside all the time season. It’s also thunderstorm season. Ahhhh, the unpredictable annoying thunderstorm. It cools off sweltering afternoons and calls off engagement sessions – at least every once in a while.  Sorry Bridget and Brian. Mother Nature got the better of us this weekend but that’s OK. We’re as persistent at this weekend’s rain.

At least we grabbed a couple of shots walking around the campus in the rain.

Like we said in an earlier post, we had a lot of photos we loved from the Scranton Lace engagement shoot with Jen and Joe. Any time you combine a great couple and a great location, all we have to do is steer the ship and the photos should turn out great. We think that’s exactly what happened with these. It seems  a sense of adventure can go a long way in producing really different images. I know, less words more photos. Here you go.

There are a lot of things I love about my wife. First, I hope to God she does not read this because she’s gonna be pissed if she finds out she was the subject in any way of one of my blog posts. Oh well. Screw it! It’s worth it.

Anyway, like I was saying. She’s beautiful, a wonderful mother, a loyal friend and my best friend. She also thinks a trip to Philadelphia for a Phillies game is a good birthday present – for her! OK, maybe she doesn’t think it’s a great present. Maybe she just thinks it’s a good way for us to spend some time together. Either way she never said anything and we had a great time together. We saw a lot of sights, had a couple of drinks and a bunch of laughs. I planned to give you a whole lot of photos form the couple days we spent in Philly but I think most of the stuff I took was from the game so it’s going to have to do. By the way, if you’re going to a game, they have some new rules about the type of camera equipment you can take into a game. I was in violation of the rules but a little sweet talking and my darling bride  showing off a little leg got us past the security goons.

So what’s the perfect spot for engagement sessions.

Is it:

1. On top of a mountain with massive views?

2. Near a beautiful lake at sunset?

3. In the middle of a historic downtown?

4. In a dank, dirty, musty, kind of dangerous former factory?

Oh yeah! Turns out it’s the former Scranton Lace, a sprawling complex of run down, filthy buildings with massive photo appeal. So big props go to Jen and Joe, friends who said they wanted someplace really different and gritty for their engagement photos. When they saw what the place looked like they got even more excited – and honestly so did we. I think the photos really capture the grittiness everyone envisioned when we came up with this place. And thanks to Joe and Jen. Without their vision and insistence that their photos be totally different, this wouldn’t have been possible.

Here are some pics. We’ll probably do a second post from the same shoot a little later. We got a lot of stuff.

With the birth of my second and last child, Lincoln, also came the birth of my wife’s latest tattoo idea. She wants something representing our family but isn’t sure exactly what. I’m sure it will be something that I am designing. It was also her Mother’s Day present.

Steph and Lincoln slept in while I went to work with a washable marker on Eliza. She woke Mommy up with her message…
