Two Sticks Studios – Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Poconos Wedding Photographers » Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Poconos Wedding Photography, Senior Photography and Portrait Photography

I remember when all the kids in school were talking about it. Some said they were Irish, other Italian, some Polish. They all made it seem like it was a big deal. Honestly, I didn’t know why. When asked what I was I think I said “American.” Hilarity ensued. I still don’t think that was  a bad answer. Anyway, when I got home, I asked my mom what I was. After some explaining, she said we were Welsh with some other stuff mixed in. OK, good by me.

I don’t remember any mention of being part billy goat but clearly it’s in there somewhere because our latest shoot for Alexia, a gorgeous college senior, took us to the top of a mountain at the Delaware Water Gap National Park. Granted, it took awhile to get there and my thighs and still begging for mercy but it was totally worth it. The view alone was spectacular. Pair it with Alexia and it was a match made in heaven – literally it was that high up.

Anyway, here are some pics from the day. Enjoy.

We were thrilled to finally get Lincoln home last Monday. He has wires hanging out of him attached to a machine that monitors his heart rate and breathing, but at least he’s home. He also has to take a squirt of caffeine every day. I’m pretty sure he just has to be weaned off Steph’s Dunkin Donuts iced coffee habit.

Eliza is thrilled to be a big sister, and I’m pretty sure she will be able to babysit him by the time she turns 3.

I’m an equipment whore. It’s just the way it is, and I’m not going to apologize. I’m also a giant pain when it comes to my stuff. You won’t find me shopping for knock-offs or products that are sort of like the real thing but with crappy materials. I just won’t do it. I believe you get what you pay for and that’s just the way it is.  When someone says to me their feet are killing them and I look down and see a $7 pair of shoes, sympathy flies right out the window.

Which brings me to my next point and something I just never do – endorse or review a product. One, other than using the product, I’m not a professional reviewer and I wouldn’t want a stray review hurting a company’s chance of someone  making a purchase. I don’t believe Think Tank is going to mind, however, if I offer my thoughts on the GREATEST CAMERA BAG IN HISTORY!

Truth be told I’m the second of the two sticks to have this bag. Bob got it a few months ago and has been bragging about how comfortable, roomy and convenient it is. I scoffed and continued to lug my shoulder bag around, wincing every time I had to throw 50 pounds over my shoulder. so I bit the bullet, stopped making fun of Bob and bought the Think Tank Airport Takeoff Rolling Camera Bag.

A few things that stand out. They managed to make the perfect size to fit all of the gear for the working photog. I thought I’d hate that it’s a roller bag. They always look goofy to me. Now, I’ll never have a main bag that isn’t a roller and I look so friggin’ cool rolling down the street. Well, maybe not but who cares because it rolls so smoothly. Oh yeah, and it has backpack straps for those cases when you can’t roll it! I love the clear pockets on the inside flap. I don’t have a ton in there right now but I will and I know the fact that I can see everything is going to be huge. Finally, it’s apparently perfect if you plan to fly with your gear because it’s suitable for the overhead. I haven’t done it yet but can’t wait to give it a try. I’m not going to list all of the features but suffice it to say that I could not be happier to have found a company who gets what photographers need and then delivers.

Here’s also a link back to an older  post with Bob’s roller and what fits in it: http://twosticksstudios.com/2012/03/2376/

Lincoln Michael Sanchuk was born April 26 at 9:30 p.m.

6 pounds 9 ounces, 19 inches long.

3 weeks early.

The last place I thought I would be Thursday night was at the hospital for the birth of my son. Just goes to show that you never know. Steph’s weekly non-stress test revealed that her blood pressure was somewhere around 1,000,000 over 900,000 so they decided it was time to have that baby.

Baby and Mom are healthy and happy. Unfortunately, Lincoln spent his entire hospital stay in the nursery to be monitored for various issues most of which had to do with apneic episodes. I am typing this Sunday night from the hospital in hopes that we will be going home tomorrow. Here’s some pictures from the hospital including a couple of Eliza keeping busy while waiting for her little brother to come home.

I’ll update how things went in a future post. There is probably a good chance there will be some pictures, too.

Every time I open up one of our  new albums, I think of my wedding album from 9 years ago. And it’s not because I love my album. It’s because I can’t believe I have such a crappy album in comparison.

Every photo is a 5 by 7 and covered with contact paper. I know you’ve seen them. They’re just hideous, although at the time it’s just that way it was done. God bless progress. We make no bones about how much we love our albums and the company that produces them – Madera Books. So when they came out with an even larger size the 12 by 17, we had to get one to show clients. It is ridiculous. The quality exceeds what everyone else in the industry does and the options when designing it are head-spinning.

When they’re done they are truly a family heirloom.
