Two Sticks Studios – Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Poconos Wedding Photographers » Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Poconos Wedding Photography, Senior Photography and Portrait Photography

There are many types of photos taken on the wedding day: formals, details, action, posed, portraits, candids. I think my favorite end up being a combination of the last two. Capturing an expression or emotion that comes when someone forgets the camera is there is one of the great privileges I have as a photographer.

Here are some of the close-up candid photos we got during Jessica and Scott’s wedding day in Dallas, Shavertown and Wilkes-Barre.

With two photographers at every wedding, not surprisingly Bob and I produce a lot of photos. It’s not uncommon for us to start editing and have about 4,000 images to go through.  Now, I love the editing process – picking and rejecting the best photos and making tweaks here and there to make sure they are exactly how I want them. But Bob and I don’t sit next to each other and edit. We do it separately and then give each other our photos for the other to take a look at before we start building the album.

For me, it’s like Christmas when I get to see the work he has produced. Sure, we were there together at the same wedding or senior portrait session and I was able to see how he was approaching certain photos but it’s not the same as actually seeing it pulled up on the computer. It’s like rapid-fire present opening going through someone’s else’ work.

Anyway, what made me thing of it was I just finished going through Bob’s work from Erin and Pat’s wedding at Newberry Estates in Dallas. There is some great stuff and I just thought I’d share some of it.

You never know how you will meet someone. Julie found out about our work from her mom, who was friends with the mom of a bride we worked with back in December. When we first met Julie and her parents, we knew she would be great to work with, but we weren’t able to meet Mike because he couldn’t get away from work.

We finally met Mike about 10 minutes before we started taking his picture. Together, he and Julie were so comfortable and relaxed that we knew immediately they were going to be a piece of cake to work with. Maybe it was the glasses of wine they had before we got there. (Note to self: Bring wine to all future engagement sessions.)

We met up with Julie and Mike at Julie’s family cottage on Baylor’s Lake in Fleetville, PA. After walking around for 5 minutes, we had more great possibilities for photos than we could have hoped for. With only had about an hour for photos before they had to leave for dinner, it was a good thing that they were so easy-going and natural in front of the camera.

We got some great photos for them and can’t wait to put them together in their guest book.

Thanks to Julie and Mike for being so great and we’ll see you soon!

Julie - Love it!!! These turned out great! Thank you!ReplyCancel

You gotta love people who love photography. My really good friends Brian and Jane – who are making appearance No. 2 in this blog (that’s a record) – moved to Florida on Sunday for some new opportunities. But before they left – with tons of packing and goodbyes left to say – they wanted to do some photos of their son Brody for his birthday. Gotta tell you, I was stunned when they still wanted photos one day before shipping off to Florida but I was more than happy to do it.  Anyway, below are a few photos of Brody and his sister, Anna, who seems to gravitate toward the camera. Brody was a good sport about it.

But more important than the photos, this gives me a chance to say something that I didn’t say when I had the chance.  I love you guys and I miss you already. And if you ever want to do some beach shots, I’m in!

We had the pleasure of documenting Jessica and Scott’s wedding at the beautiful St. Therese’s Church in Shavertown. There was something about the light in the church that day that was just perfect. Jessica and Scott just graduated from college a couple months ago and are so excited to be starting their lives together.

After a rainy proposal and a rainy engagement session at Lebanon Valley College, there was the threat of a major storm coming their way just in time for the ceremony. Luckily, the storm just missed them, and they had gorgeous skies for pictures outside.

We’ll post those pictures from the River Commons in Wilkes-Barre soon.

There’s a lot to like about wedding season. We get to hang out with great people on a huge day in their lives, take some photos and make some memories.  It’s a chance to travel a little  – even if it’s usually not that far from home. That doesn’t mean we are not totally surprised sometimes at the places we end up and the things we find. We recently went to Newberry Estates in Dallas. It’s a pretty popular place for wedding receptions but also a place that we never had a chance to visit. It also has some terrific spots for photos. Our wedding couple  – Erin and Pat  – knocked it out of the park in picking this venue, but they also wanted some photos at their home after the ceremony and a couple of spots they found along the way. We love when couples find places that mean something to them that are off the beaten path because they think it will make for some nice images.  We’re always happy to oblige.

Also, a special thanks to Erin and Pat. These guys do a ton of traveling across the country and have seen a ton of stuff. At the reception they had a slideshow with dozens of photos from their trips. At the end, they included the photos we did from their engagement session at Bushkill Falls. It was really touching  that they would include those images among the photos that clearly meant so much to them. Thanks guys. We’ll never forget that. Here are some of the photos from the day. As always, thanks for looking.
